Cory Wasmus for Scioto Township Trustee

Fighting for Responsible Growth in Scioto Township

Cory Wasmus is running for Scioto Township Trustee to make sure our community grows responsibly — with schools, roads, fire/EMS, and utilities ready before new development moves in. For too long, decisions have been made without transparency and without putting residents first. That stops here.

Top 10 Issues Cory Wasmus Will Champion as Scioto Township Trustee

Building a Stronger Scioto Township

Responsible Growth & Infrastructure First

I’ll continue to insist that growth must match infrastructure readiness. No more approving high-density housing while schools, roads, fire, and EMS are already over capacity.

Protecting Farmland & Rural Character

I’ll continue standing against industrial-scale solar plants and massive data centers in the middle of residential and farmland communities. Growth should strengthen, not erase, our rural way of life.

Transparency & Public Voice

I’ll continue shining a light on backroom deals, NDAs, and emergency votes. Residents deserve to know what’s happening before decisions are made — and to have a strong voice in the process.

Property Rights Must Come First

I’ll continue defending landowners against forced annexation clauses, sloppy petitions, and unfair road transfers. No one should lose their rights to developers or bureaucratic shortcuts.

Fairness in Annexation

I’ll continue using every tool under Ohio law to stop sloppy annexations — like the centerline clause and unfair road service agreements — and ensure growth happens on township, not developer, terms.

Schools Before Sprawl

I’ll continue fighting to oppose reckless overdevelopment until Teays Valley schools can catch up. Our most vulnerable students suffer first when class sizes balloon and redistricting pushes families around.

Fiscal Responsibility & Fair Share Growth

I’ll continue demanding that growth pays its fair share. With fire trucks now nearing $1 million and firefighter gear over $3,000 a set, taxpayers can’t afford to subsidize unchecked development.

Safety & Emergency Services

I’ll continue supporting projects that strengthen public safety and emergency response — from better cell service towers to well-equipped fire and EMS. Growth must come with safety, not strain.

Collaboration With Local Leaders

I’ll continue working with mayors, councils, township trustees, and other leaders who share our values — to make sure development across Teays Valley is fair, transparent, and community-driven.

Civility & Respect in Leadership

I’ll continue showing that we can debate tough issues without division. At the end of the day, we’re still neighbors — and leadership must be rooted in respect, fairness, and trust.
