Letting Our Schools Catch Up

Letting Our Schools Catch Up

As a candidate for Scioto Township Trustee, I will always stand for responsible growth that puts schools, roads, and safety services first. Approving high-density housing without a plan is not leadership — it’s negligence.

The latest enrollment data from Teays Valley’s own reports is clear:

  • We’re bringing in more new students each year than we’re graduating out.

  • That’s before the next wave of proposed development even begins.

  • If we keep approving subdivisions at this pace, we’re not talking about gradual growth — we’re talking about a hockey stick curve on the enrollment chart.

This isn’t just a projection. It’s a warning. And if we ignore it, the costs will fall on families, taxpayers, and students — especially the most vulnerable who feel overcrowding first.

It’s time to stop pretending this isn’t a problem. Our schools are already stretched. Our teachers are carrying the load. And families are left to wonder how much larger class sizes will get.

We need to weigh these things, let our schools catch up, and make sure growth happens at a pace our community can actually handle. That’s the kind of leadership I will bring as trustee: transparent, responsible, and focused on what matters most — our kids and our future.
