Protecting Teays Valley from Industrial Solar Sprawl
Share
As a candidate for Scioto Township Trustee, I believe in protecting our farmland, our schools, and our residents from reckless projects that industrialize our communities without accountability. Clean energy has a place in Ohio — but not at the cost of local control, farmland loss, and permanent industrial sprawl.
Right now, Carnation Solar has filed to build a 1,700-acre utility-scale solar plant in Amanda Township, inside the Teays Valley School District.
If approved, this project would:
-
Cover massive farmland with fencing, transformers, and industrial infrastructure.
-
Provide no guaranteed benefit to our schools, townships, or fire services.
-
Permanently change the character of our community.
The Amanda Township Trustees have already voted unanimously to oppose this project. Now, they need the support of residents across the Teays Valley district — especially those living nearby.
Let’s be clear: this is not rooftop solar. It’s industrial-scale sprawl, creeping deeper into our communities.
I support responsible, balanced energy policy. But I will always oppose projects that strip away farmland, ignore local voices, and leave communities bearing the costs while corporations reap the profits.
As trustee, I will stand with our residents to make sure growth — whether housing, industry, or energy — is responsible, transparent, and fair.
Protect Teays Valley. Stop the sprawl.
