Standing Up for Property Rights in Scioto Township
Share
As a candidate for Scioto Township Trustee, I stand firmly for property rights, transparency, and fairness. When rules aren’t followed and residents are left out of the process, I will act to protect our community.
Earlier this week, a formal legal objection to the proposed 343-acre annexation on Gibson Road was submitted to:
-
The Scioto Township Trustees
-
The Village Council of Commercial Point
-
The Pickaway County Commissioners
This objection was coordinated and submitted through Teays Valley Against Overgrowth, with review and support from licensed Ohio legal counsel, and funded entirely through private contributions — at no cost to the landowners involved.
The objection focuses on the rights of property owners along Gibson Road, many of whom were excluded from the annexation petition process entirely. That’s not just unfair — it may be unlawful.
The full filing cites Ohio law, constitutional protections, and legal precedent. It is now part of the public record.
This annexation isn’t small. It would pave the way for what could become the largest subdivision in Teays Valley School District history, adding thousands of new residents into an already overcrowded system — with no infrastructure plan to support it. That affects every community in our district: Scioto Township, Ashville, Commercial Point, South Bloomfield, Walnut, and Harrison.
This is why I’m running: to make sure residents have a real voice, their rights are respected, and their leaders are willing to act when the stakes are this high.
We’ve already secured about 80% of Gibson Road landowner signatures. While it doesn’t have to be unanimous, every name adds weight to this effort.
I’m grateful to the Circleville Herald for continuing to cover this important issue. But most of all, I’m grateful to the residents who are standing together to say property rights matter.
As trustee, I will always stand with them.
