A Win for Farmers and Farmland Protection
Share
As a candidate for Scioto Township Trustee, I believe protecting farmland is one of the most important responsibilities we have — not only for our community, but for the future of Ohio.
This week marks a big milestone in that fight.
I recently had the opportunity to meet with Congressman Dave Taylor to share our mission here in Teays Valley and the principles I stand for: responsible growth, transparency, and protecting farmland from being lost to unchecked industrial projects.
Congressman Taylor has been a strong advocate for stopping taxpayer dollars from being used to cover prime farmland with solar panels. And this week, U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke L. Rollins announced that federal funding will no longer be used for solar projects on prime farmland.
That’s a huge win — not just for Teays Valley, but for farmers across Ohio and the nation.
Congressman Taylor also helped introduce the Protecting American Farmland Act, which will ensure these protections are written into law for the future.
As trustee, I will continue standing up for farmland and working alongside leaders at every level who share that commitment. Because once farmland is gone, it’s gone forever.
