Standing Up for Transparency and Responsible Growth
On April 30th, the Circleville Herald put our fight for fair and responsible growth on the front page.
The article quoted me directly:
“Speaking on behalf of Teays Valley Against Overgrowth, Cory Wasmus expressed concern about the transparency and fairness of the Village Council’s annexation process.”
That day, the Pickaway County Commissioners voted 3–0 to deny the 344-acre annexation after serious questions were raised — especially about whether the Village could actually provide the sewer capacity it claimed.
This wasn’t just a victory for one group. It was a victory for every family in our community who has watched overcrowded schools, jammed roads, and overwhelmed services become the price of unchecked development.
What this shows is simple: when residents speak up, leadership is forced to listen.
I helped launch Teays Valley Against Overgrowth just days before this hearing. Within a week, nearly 700 residents joined in. That tells me people are tired of being left in the dark while decisions get made that impact their wallets, their schools, and their safety.
As a candidate for Scioto Township Trustee, I’m committed to bringing that same transparency and accountability into township government:
-
Making sure growth doesn’t outpace our schools, roads, fire/EMS, and sewer systems.
-
Demanding fairness and openness in annexation and rezoning decisions.
-
Giving residents a real voice before decisions are made — not after.
The annexation fight was just the beginning. Our township deserves leadership that asks the tough questions, digs into the details, and stands with the residents who pay the bills.
That’s the kind of trustee I intend to be.
What do you think should happen next in our community? Share your thoughts — I want to hear them.
